This new home project on a backstreet in semi-industrial Wickham embraces the rich and raw qualities of an exposed finish. We were delighted to be selected to work on this project with Warren Haasnoot of Curious Practice Architecture, whose briefing to us was to express and celebrate all materials in their most raw form.
White blocks, zinc cladding and recycled hardwood battens feature externally, helping Vikki’s place settle into its surroundings naturally. Inside, there’s no paint or plasterboard in sight, with a raw finish of FC sheeting, and plywood linings on walls, ceilings and some floors. Exposed beams, services and copper pipework – carefully fabricated on site – showcase the skills of all trades involved through a clever design that is adaptable and progressive.
A celebration of design.
